CECILY GAMBRELL
Art and commerce, performance and production, show and business are definitively in the genes. Cecily Gambrell follows in the family trade, and great aunts, Hollywood icons, Gypsy Rose Lee and June Havoc. Cecily was performing in plays at her grandmother, Marcia Hovick’s theater at age eight (CET and Staff Players, Forest Theater, Carmel, CA). At age 16 Cecily was studying media production at Pacific Grove High School (Pacific Grove, CA) where she wrote her first screenplay and was a producer on the school’s first video yearbook. At age 18 she moved to Los Angeles and got her foot in the Hollywood door as a production assistant on horror movies like HELLRAISER IV and HALLOWEEN VI (Paul Rudd). Years later having learned and earned her way up the production ranks, Cecily found herself working in company with Jerry Bruckheimer Films on the blockbusters ARMAGEDDON, GONE IN 60 SECONDS and PEARL HARBOR. Through these movies and others like them she learned first hand the ins and outs of feature film production. From idea to finished product, to marketing and the marketplace, her film school degree came by way of first hand learning on large, labor intensive and adventurous productions.
In 2001 Cecily started her first production company. Over the years she learned to scale capacities on commercial, music video and promo projects, and award winning short and feature length films. The latter she wrote, produced and appeared in, including CHAMPION., the Imagen Award nominated documentary profiling the life of actor Danny Trejo, and HIGH HOPES (LGF/Maple, E1) a stoner comedy with a fantastic ensemble cast (Corin Nemec, David Faustino, Jason Mewes, Lacey Chabert, Andy Dick, Robert Rodriguez, Danny Trejo). Cecily has also worked alongside several other luminaries some of which include the late Peter Fonda, Jessica Alba, Rita Moreno, Hector Elizondo, Michael Madsen, Dennis Hopper, Steve Buscemi, Malik Yoba, Freddy Rodriguez, Kate Beckinsale, and Oscar Award winner Gregory Peck - as his executive assistant for several years…her great aunt June Havoc co-starred with Mr. Peck in GENTLEMAN'S AGREEMENT (1947), directed by Elia Kazan…what are the odds?
In 2021 Cecily parlayed her professional pedigree into the automotive industry in her role as media/marketing and events manager at Porsche Monterey (Monterey Peninsula, CA), where she created award winning social media content and managed events throughout the year, including the beloved Porsche Monterey Classic Party, the crown jewel kick off party to Monterey Car Week that annually and graciously hosts thousands of Porsche aficionados from all over the world.
During her tenure at Porsche Monterey Cecily successfully completed trainings and became a Porsche Certified Brand Ambassador. In tandem she discovered a latent passion for racing and all things Porsche Classic and Porsche Motorsports.
MARGOT TRIP is Cecily’s second production company with projects in active development and physical production. The company’s focus is that of, “follow what you love.” Margot Trip produces projects of merit that are driven by the heart, connectivity, and true zest for the amazingness that is life and storytelling.
As a dual industry professional - entertainment and motorsports - Cecily is honored to be a long standing member of SAG-AFTRA, as well as the President of Women In Motorsports North America Monterey Chapter. She is a member of The Society in Dedham for Apprehending Horse Thieves alongside Pope John Paul II, John F. Kennedy and Elvis Presley. Cecily is a native Californian, a devoted Pug lover in her free time she studies contract law (holding a Certificate degree in Contract Law from Harvard Law School Online/HarvardX (edX), and language, linguistics and etymology.
